Our Training

GCA training captures the best elements of an ecumenical spirit, stimulating intentional collaboration between denominations and mission agencies in both mono and cross-cultural contexts. Church planters representing more than 50 countries and 200 denominations and mission agencies have received this training. All or significant portions of the curriculum is now available in English, Mandarin, French, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese.

The GCA training curriculum is characterized by being:

1.  Biblically-Sound (integration of biblical and theological truth into practical training)

2.  Missiologically-Contextualized to the focused culture (one size does not fit all)

3.  Educationally-Effective (adult learner-centered VS teacher(ing)-centered methods)

4.  Competency-Based (training based on knowledge, skill and character competencies)

5.  Character-Focused (primacy of developing character over mere knowledge & skills)

6.  Outcome-Based (training accountability through objectively measurable results)

GCA training is primarily learner-centered. This means that our measure of successful training is not how well the material is presented or even how much participants report they like the training, but rather what the participants actually learn and can accomplish as a result of the training. GCA is also acutely aware of the great dangers that can result from trying to impose one culturally relevant ministry model on another diversely different cultural context. This is why the GCA training curriculum has been designed to be “principle-based” rather than program or model-based. Whatever the cultural context, GCA is committed to engaging the world’s finest practitioners, theologians, missiologists, and educators in order to provide the best contextualized church planter training available today.
